Cylinder heads in an inner locomotive burning which is located at the top of the cylinder on the highest part of the cylinder block. It is made up of a platform holding the poppet valves, plugs that usually produce a small flash of light and the part of the combustion group or assembly. Inner, the cylinder head has a passing which is called the tracts or ports for the air/fuel mixing in order to pass to the narrow strip of valves starting at the manifold intake for glasses that exhaust to travel originating with exhaust valves going to the manifold exhaust. In a water-cooled engine, the cylinder head also consist of essential channels and passages for the locomotive's coolant. Coolant is usually a mixture of anti- freeze to make easy transfer of extra hotness away from the head.

 The cylinder head in the overhead valve (OHV) pattern contains the valves of the poppet and the plugs that spark through with “ports” or tracts in favor of the inlet and gases that has been use up. By the engines camshaft, the act or way of operating of the valves is initiated. The engines camshaft is located within the blocks of the cylinder, and in a brief period of operations is directly transferred to the push-rods valves, at that time the arms of the rocker is increased on a rocker vertical opening, the rocker arms and shaft is situated also within the head of the cylinder. In the camshaft which is located overhead(OHC) design, the cylinder head hold back the valves, spark plugs and used up tracts/ inlet just like the OHV (overhead valve) engine, yet the camshaft is now embodied within the head of the cylinder. The vertical opening of the cam maybe placed at the center of each make up row of inlet and exhausts valves and put into use the rocker arm( but without any pushrods, or the camshaft may be located orderly over the valves cast out the rocker arms and utilizing the” bucket tappets”
